Melanie Coyne

"Helping clients see below the surface of real estate."

A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Melanie understands what it means to relocate. Prior to settling in Charlotte in 2002, Melanie earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wellesley College in Wellesley, Massachusetts (outside of Boston), a Master of Science degree in Geology and Geophysics from the University of Hawaii, and worked as a public policy analyst in San Francisco.

All of this moving around taught her a few things. She has an innate appreciation for new places and experiences. Whether it’s a new city or home, she thrives on helping people discover the positives that change has to offer. She knows how unsettling relocation can be and enjoys working with clients to help them become comfortable with their moves.

Melanie sees her job not as a salesperson, but as a facilitator: helping clients discover everything they want and need to know to make an informed decision about their home purchase or sale. Melanie takes this role as a client advocate seriously.

In her previous career, Melanie’s focus was on understanding the competing property rights interests of scientists, policy makers and homeowners. These experiences, coupled with her own personal moving experiences, give her a strong foundation in the legal, environmental and regulatory concerns associated with private property ownership. Her goal as a real estate broker is to draw on the skills and knowledge acquired throughout her career to deliver a seamless transaction to her clients. Melanie and her husband, Alex Stephens, live in Charlotte with their dog, Maggie.

“It’s truly rare to find someone who wants the best for you, and goes above and beyond to express this sentiment. From the very beginning, Melanie was consistent and responsive in her communication, she ensured that I had the best information to make decisions, and continued to demonstrate her expertise in every area. Melanie does a thorough review of any listing that she shows you. She documents notes for you, as well as walks you through everything you might want to consider about the property.

After working with Melanie as both a buyer and seller, I would highly recommend her to anyone who values a realtor who is a strong communicator, thorough, and looking out for your best interest. She will make sure you’re able to navigate the house buying or selling process with ease. Even more, you’ll be well taken care of and have someone rooting for you throughout the entire process."

Friends highly recommended Melanie. After speaking with her, we were confident she would do a great job. I can’t think of anything she could do to improve; she is a model to others. Integrity: that is the #1 word I would use to describe Melanie. She is also extremely knowledgeable when it comes to the different areas, type of home construction, potential concerns and real estate trends. We trusted her 100% during a stressful period of transition. We are so thankful for her work and wish everyone could have such a positive experience. AMAZING.

We were Melanie’s first clients when she began her career in real estate. We enjoyed working with her and knew we would work with her again when it was time to move. Melanie is so knowledgeable about a wide range of real estate topics and that expertise helped us throughout our home search. We felt confident and well taken care of in Melanie’s hands. Our house search took several months and many showings. We appreciate that Melanie was so patient with us and stayed positive and professional throughout the process.

Melanie does an excellent job of pointing out the practical issues (lead paint, structure, etc) that sometimes we might have lost sight of while looking at the emotional pieces of a home. She was invaluable to us during the process—thorough and timely.

Kathleen & Tyler F

Melanie was the fifth agent we interviewed. She was professional, kind and well-informed. A great fit for us. We were totally pleased.

Bridgett & Seth L

Melanie was so great to work with! She was always a step ahead of us, giving us all the info we needed before we could ask and going the extra mile on research. There is nothing she could do to improve her service.

Matt & Patsy G

Melanie helped our son-in-law buy his first house, then helped him and our daughter buy their second home, as well as another daughter buy a townhome. She helped us buy a townhome and sell our house. She was always available to answer questions and provide support. She gave good advice on proper inspections and researched .. prospective properties. She answered questions by phone, text or email, morning, day or night. If Melanie is your agent, she will be your best advocate, in a very professional manner. She is calm and reassuring and does a thorough market analysis. She is sensitive and open to suggestions when we were buying and selling.

Joan & Carl S

Melanie went out of her way to explain things to me that would otherwise be overwhelming / confusing for a first time buyer. I truly feel like Melanie went above and beyond for me and pointed out things that I might not be aware of and offered resources to me to make the whole process as stress free as possible.
