Patty was born and raised in Greensboro, North Carolina, and is a 1983 graduate of the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill. Upon graduation, she moved to Atlanta, Georgia, and began her real estate career with Harry Norman Realtors. She has continued in real estate for almost 23 years and has been a Top Producer for the past 10 years - averaging $25-$40 million in annual sales.

In 2006, Patty and her business partner, Valerie Mitchener, founded HM Properties. They started out with seven agents and quickly grew to 50 agents with a staff of seven. Patty was also named one of the Top 25 Women in Business by the Charlotte Business Journal in 2006.

Patty is the mother of Will (14), Jody (12) and Ben (6). Her passions include travel, wine, reading and sports. She is extremely active in the Charlotte community and is a member of the Myers Park Presbyterian Church, Children's Theatre, Mint Museum of Art Auxiliary, Women's Impact Fund, Carolina First Women's Leadership Council and Charlotte Regional Realtors Association. She serves on the advisory boards for Women in Business at the Kenan Flagler Business School, and YMCA.
