In today’s highly competitive real estate market, Valerie’s philosophy is centered around a lot more than just selling houses. She believes homes are not simply dwellings, but the embodiment of our lifestyles. She loves helping clients make informed decisions and recognizes every client is as unique as the home they are buying or selling. Valerie’s goal is to be viewed as her clients’ trusted advisor.
Valerie and her team consistently go above and beyond to provide exceptional customer service and they are extremely knowledgeable of the Charlotte market. She is committed to developing long-term client relationships and is prepared to make difficult decisions to protect them.
Prior to joining HM Properties, Valerie was a broker with Re/Max for seven years before venturing out on her own in 2007, when she opened her own real estate firm called TradeStreet Realty which was based in Uptown Charlotte. During the 10 years she owned and managed TradeStreet Realty, Valerie had a talented team of 12 agents and support staff.
Valerie lives Uptown and is a native North Carolinian with five siblings. While she has experienced many successes in her real estate career, those close to her know that she considers her biggest successes to be her two adult children, daughter-in-law, and three grandchildren. Her son, Randal E. Baker, is an industrial engineer and a graduate of North Carolina State University graduate, and her daughter, Zekia N. Lewis, is a graduate of North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State.
As a business professional and single mother, much of Valerie’s time is dedicated to projects focused on the empowerment of women and children. She enjoys volunteering to help local high school girls, spending time with her family and friends, reading, traveling, shopping, and golfing. She also loves attending Charlotte Hornets games and is a PSL holder with the Carolina Panthers. Valerie has also served on The Landmark Commission as a secretary as well as chair of the Education Committee and vice chair of its Design Review Board.
